2. How To Use The GripBeats® Desktop App for Mac

Introduction 
In this tutorial, we'll show you how to set up GripBeats® with the GripBeats® Desktop App for Apple Mac. We have both a written tutorial and video tutorial below.

Requirements

  1. A GripBeats® device (available from here).
  2. Make sure you've charged it using the USB-C charging cable provided!
  3. The GripBeats® Desktop App for Apple Mac (available from here).
  4. The GripBeats® Desktop App Patch downloaded onto your GripBeats® (available from here).
  5. A DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) (such Ableton, Garageband, Logic, etc.) An Apple Mac.

Set Up Summary

  1. In the Finder on your Mac (top-right magnifying class icon of the menu bar on your Mac), search and open the built-in software program, Audio MIDI Setup.
  2. Within the Audio MIDI Setup page, navigate to Window; Show MIDI Studio to open the MIDI Studio page.
  3. On the MIDI Studio page, navigate MIDI Studio;Open Bluetooth Configuration to then see a list of available Bluetooth MIDI devices you can connect to.
  4. Find your GripBeats® device and click "Connect". 
  5. Open up the GripBeats® Desktop App for Mac. You may have to right click; Open the file as it is not yet launched officially on the App Store.
  6. On the GripBeats® Desktop App, select a device (any color).
  7. Under SELECT INPUT, select the GripBeats® device you would like to connect. If you have successfully completed Step (4) and you cannot see your GripBeats® device under SELECT INPUT, click the "I" button directly to the left of the SELECT INPUT button to refresh the list and try again.
  8. Under; SELECT OUTPUT, choose IAC Driver (Bus 1) (or the respective driver you have created).
  9. Open; Ableton or your respective DAW (step (4) of the Requirements list above). Create a new MIDI Channel by either clicking ⇧⌘T or right click and choose Insert MIDI track.
  10. Under; MIDI From, choose IAC Driver (Bus 1)(or the respective driver you created for step (8)).
  11. Arm your track (the little square button with a black circular button at the bottom of the MIDI track channel). You should now be able to produce sound from Ableton using your GripBeats® device. Make sure you select an Instrument Sound to play on Ableton to make a sound!
